The kids opened up the night with a biggie: The difference between killing and murder, specifically killing on a battlefield. Following the audio are additional comments of mine that did not get brought up at the time.
We often get caught up in all manner of what-if and suppose-that arguments we tend to forget the simple things. According to Genesis we are created in the likeness of God. The operative word here being "Created." God made us. We are His, and He alone can sit in judgment of His creation. When we prematurely end the life of someone else we usurp God's role as judge, effectively saying "I don't trust you to handle this. I'll do it my way." And in this instance, "my way" involves the destruction of God's creation.
How would you feel if someone killed your loved ones? Remember that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) Jesus died for everyone, including the person being killed. God loves them no less than He loves the person doing the killing.
